There are a few important restrictions on how LCC grant money can be spent. The money cannot be used to purchase refreshments or provide scholarships directly to individuals.

LCCs can grant funds for capital expenses , such as equipment or improvements to facilities, but they need to make sure that requests for capital expenditures meet a number of additional requirements.

Applicants for capital expenditures must demonstrate a 2:1 match (the LCC can only fund a third of the total cost of purchase or renovation) and must fill out a number of supplemental questions.

Capital expenditures for schools, libraries, local cultural councils, municipal agencies and religious organizations are ineligible.
