FY24 Local Priorities
The South Hadley Cultural Council welcomes applications from individuals and groups that promote the arts, humanities, and sciences through programs that entertain and inspire the citizens of South Hadley. The Council may approve grants for a broad range of projects and programs, such as operating support, ticket subsidies, field trips, artist residencies, public art, fellowships, community events/programs, site specific projects, and other activities.
They especially welcome applications for:
–Programs and organizations by and for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities
–Programs and organizations that make arts and culture more accessible to more South Hadley residents, including individuals with disabilities, low-income communities, seniors, and individual artists
–Programs and organization that bring art and culture to students in South Hadley Public Schools and to South Hadley youth
Applications for projects or operating support should be convincing about the way the program benefits the citizens of South Hadley. Our 2023 Community Input Survey suggests that residents favor programs relating to music, theater, festivals, educational offerings for adults, nature walks and classes, visual art, and local history.
Applicants must reside or be located in Massachusetts.
The deadline for submission of FY24 applications is October 17, 2023. Late applications cannot be considered.
The more confirmed details in your plan–e.g., venue, date, time, other means of support–the stronger your application will be. Letters of venue confirmation and other financial support should be included with the application, if available.
Virtual programs will be considered if they demonstrate easy access and clear benefit for South Hadley residents.
Please note that if your project was funded in a previous year and postponed to this fiscal year, that project is not eligible for additional funding in this fiscal year.
FY24 Local Guidelines
A guideline highlight is provided below; however, it is important for applicants to read the full LCC guidelines. (See link below.) These provide essential details as to the grant process including eligibility criteria to which the South Hadley Cultural Council adheres when awarding funds.
To the extent possible, applications should include:
– Detailed descriptions of the program or project
– Qualifications or track record of the applicant
– Program venue, date, and time (or timeframe), with as much specificity as possible. The project should be planned for completion between January and December 2024.
– Publicity plan for the event (don’t forget social media!)
– Accessibility accommodations
– Other source(s) of financial support. (As a rule of thumb, no more than 50% of the total budget should be requested from the Council, and the proposal should be able to proceed with partial funding.)
– Signed letters of support from the host venue and any other local partner, if available.
– Thoughtful explanation of projected benefit to South Hadley residents and community.
Note that grant funds may not be used for food or refreshments.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
All applications must be submitted online via the Mass Cultural Council. If you are unable to access a computer or the internet, please call Grants Manager Geraldine de Berly at 315-396-4614.
While applications must be submitted online, a PDF of the application is available on the Mass Cultural Council website to assist you in preparing the submission. Reviewing this document will be most helpful in completing the grant application.
On September 12 at 6 pm there will be an information session webinar for applicants. You may register for this on the MCC website.
