Hanover Cultural Council

The Hanover Cultural Council is comprised of residents who are interested in supporting and promoting arts, humanities and sciences in Hanover. We have funded many projects in the community that span all age groups including events at the Hanover Council on Aging, Artists in residence in the Hanover Schools, Harbor Choral Arts Society concerts, special projects from the Hanover Diversity Committee and many more. We also run the annual town celebration called “Hanover Day” each year in June which showcases the talents and activities in our community. In 2016, we added our first juried art exhibit at the John Curtis Library. This was an exceptional display of local artists work in all media. Over the years we have also sponsored other events such as our annual “Kite Day” festival in partnership with the Friends of the John Curtis Library. We are always looking for ways to do outreach in our town in support of the arts, sciences & humanities.

FY24 Local Priorities

Our goal is to serve as many residents of Hanover as possible, and to ensure that the beneficiaries of grant programs are of all ages. In order to do this our priorities will be to fund grants that have programs that take place in Hanover. If they are programs that take place outside of Hanover, we will look to see what the impact of the program is on Hanover residents. We will also give priority to grant applicants who have already arranged a venue for their performance or program.
If you need assistance in contacting local groups, schools or organizations to find a venue for your program, please contact Chris Haraden at charaden@comcast.net.

FY24 Local Guidelines

Massachusetts-based individuals, artists, nonprofit community groups, cultural institutions and schools with a cultural project that has a public benefit component may apply for funding.
The deadline to submit applications is October 17.
Programs must be specifically described with the names, artist fees, qualifications of the individual(s) leading the activity, letters of support from facility to be use and collaborators.
Applicants must use physically accessible facilities whenever possible.
Approximately two months after the October 17 deadline, the Hanover Cultural Council will inform applicants of approval/disapproval decisions. Applicants have one year from the date of final approval to complete their project and apply for reimbursement. Extensions may be requested in writing but are not automatically granted.
