Salem Cultural Council

About the Council: The Salem Cultural Council joins communities across the state to make up the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The Salem Cultural Council is eager to award grants to individuals that reside, work, or have an organization based in Salem as they work to bring arts and cultural opportunities to our community.

Online applications open September 1, 2023, and the deadline for the next grant cycle will be October 17, 2023. Any Massachusetts resident can apply, but we give priority to those who follow our stated council priorities.

About the Council Members: As proud residents of Salem, we hope to find meaningful ways to contribute to the vibrant arts and culture scene in our city by awarding grants, supporting community events, and collaborating with the local organizations that bring arts and culture to life in Salem.

FY24 Allocation

$29,600

FY24 Local Priorities

The Salem Cultural Council is pleased to be one of 329 local cultural councils in Massachusetts to award funds in partnership with the Massachusetts Cultural Council. These funds are granted to qualified individuals and organizations to support cultural projects that benefit the Salem community. We use our allocations to support community-based activities in the arts, the humanities, including history, and interpretive sciences.

FY24 Local Guidelines

Programs that have received SCC funding for multiple years may have a lower funding priority so that we may consider new applications. All funding grants are limited. Each SCC funded project must be completed within the calendar year.
